The Thanor MCP server

Thanor is a library of art directions for building websites: each one is a palette in hex, a type scale, motion with named curves and real durations, and a section by section structure. The MCP server puts that library inside the assistant you already work in, so you can ask for a direction where you are building instead of copying it from a web page.

Streamable HTTP, stateless. Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code authenticate with OAuth 2.1 and need nothing pasted. Editors that take a header — Cursor, VS Code, Zed, Antigravity, Cline — use a personal token you generate at thanor.ai/mcp.

What it can do

• search_designs — find a direction by words in its name or by category. Returns names and categories only, never prompt text. Costs nothing.
• get_design — one design in detail: its name, the shelves it sits on, whether a prompt has been written for it. Costs nothing.
• get_prompt — the full art direction, to paste whole into whatever you are building with. This spends one copy from your daily allowance.

All three are read-only. The server cannot change your account, your plan, your saved designs, or anything else — there is no tool that writes.

What it costs

Fetching a direction spends one copy from the same daily allowance the website uses, so three from your editor and three from the site are three in total. The quarterly plan has a cap of three a day, which resets at midnight UTC; the yearly and lifetime plans have no daily limit. When the allowance is spent the tool says so in words rather than failing.

Who can use it

An account with an active plan. The server authenticates you as one Thanor customer and answers with exactly what that customer’s plan covers. Connecting an account without a live plan works, and every direction is refused with a link to the plans.

What it stores

• A token record, per connection: which account it belongs to, what you called it, when it was made and roughly when it was last used. The secret itself is never stored — only a hash of it — so it cannot be recovered or shown again.
• A copy record, each time a direction is fetched: which account, which design, when. That is what the daily allowance counts, and it is the same record the website writes when you press copy.

Nothing you type into your assistant is sent to Thanor. The server sees the name of a design and nothing else about your conversation. Full terms are in the privacy policy.

Disconnecting

Every connection — a pasted token or an app you approved — is listed at thanor.ai/mcp with a button to revoke it. Revoking takes effect immediately.
